Op 10 december kwamen kinderen, jongeren en leden van de gemeenschap samen met BHRO en Human Rights International voor de Youth Ride 4 Rights, een fietstocht langs de boulevard van Bonaire ter viering van de Internationale Dag van de Mensenrechten. Het evenement zond een krachtig bericht uit dat mensenrechten voor iedereen zijn, vooral voor jongeren.

Lancering van Nieuwe Informatiebord op Kaya Grandi

Op 10 december, Internationale Dag van de Mensenrechten, en in het kader van Mensenrecht #19 – Vrijheid van Meningsuiting, onthulde BHRO een nieuw informatiebord op Kaya Grandi op Bonaire.

De locatie, diep vereerd door het originele bord dat tien jaar geleden werd geplaatst, is een symbool geworden van de kracht, vastberadenheid en veerkracht van het Bonaireaanse volk. Het vernieuwde bord eert dit erfgoed en markeert een nieuw tijdperk van educatie, publieke zichtbaarheid en empowerment om het bewustzijn van mensenrechten op het eiland te versterken.

Deze prestaties luiden ook BHRO’s vijfjarige Mensenrechten Campagne in, in lijn met de Sustainable Development Goals van de Verenigde Naties, met name SDG 16: Vrede, Rechtvaardigheid en Sterke Instellingen.

BHRO spreekt haar diepste dank uit aan United for Human Rights International, lokale partners, vrijwilligers en de hele Bonaire-gemeenschap voor het werkelijk historisch maken van deze evenementen.

On December 10, children, youth, and community members joined BHRO and Human Rights International for the Youth Ride 4 Rights, a bike ride along the Bonaire waterfront to celebrate International Human Rights Day. The event sent a strong message that human rights belong to everyone, especially youth.

Launch of New Information Plaque on Kaya Grandi

Also on December 10, International Human Rights Day, and in the context of Human Rights #19 – Freedom of Expression, BHRO unveiled a new information plaque on Kaya Grandi in Bonaire.

The site, deeply sanctified by the original plaque placed a decade ago, has become a symbol of the strength, determination, and resilience of the Bonairean people. The renewed plaque honors this legacy and marks a new era of education, public visibility, and empowerment to strengthen awareness of human rights on the island.

These achievements also launched BHRO’s five-year Human Rights Campaign, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.

BHRO expresses its deepest gratitude to United for Human Rights International, local partners, volunteers, and the entire Bonaire community for making these events truly historic.

BHRO en Human Rights International Vieren Historische Prestatie van Belangrijke Mensenrechten Evenementen op Bonaire

De Bonaire Human Rights Organization (BHRO), geaccrediteerd door de Verenigde Naties in samenwerking met United for Human Rights International, kondigt trots de succesvolle afronding aan van een reeks historische mensenrechten evenementen die het gemeenschapsconsensus hebben versterkt en Bonaire op de wereldkaart van mensenrechten hebben gezet.

Workshop “Wij Hebben Ook Rechten” – Een Historisch Eerste Evenement op Bonaire

Op 6 december organiseerden BHRO en United for Human Rights International de allereerste mensenrechtenworkshop en seminar op Bonaire. De deelnemers namen deel aan interactieve training, culturele presentaties en een formele certificeringstest, resulterend in Bonaire’s eerste gecertificeerde Mensenrechtenverdedigers.

Met deze prestatie wordt Bonaire officieel het 191ste land ter wereld dat het United for Human Rights Programma implementeert.

“Dit is een historisch moment,” aldus James Finies, oprichter van BHRO. Bonaire voegt zich nu trots bij 190 andere landen die zich inzetten voor onderwijs en empowerment op het gebied van mensenrechten.
