In Parliament, the budgets of the Council of Advice, the Ombudsman, the General Audit Chamber and the Parliament of Aruba were discussed. After the session, Member of Parliament Eduard Pieters expressed satisfaction that funds were allocated within the budget of the Council of Advice to obtain expert advice for the Budget Office, allowing for stronger oversight of the Government of Aruba.

In het Parlement zijn de begrotingen behandeld van de Raad van Advies, de Ombudsman, de Algemene Rekenkamer en het Parlement van Aruba. Na afloop laat Statenlid Eduard Pieters weten tevreden te zijn dat binnen de begroting van de Raad van Advies middelen zijn vrijgemaakt om deskundig advies te kunnen verkrijgen voor de Begrotingskamer, zodat er beter toezicht gehouden kan worden op de regering van Aruba.

The Ministers of Health of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten, together with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports of the Netherlands, convened on Thursday, 20 November 2025, in Sint Maarten for the Four-Country Consultation on Public Health. This annual high-level dialogue remains a cornerstone for coordinated health governance and joint policy development within the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Minister Richenel Brug (Sint Maarten): “Today’s agreements reflect our shared resolve to build a resilient, responsive, and collaborative public health system for the people of our islands. Strengthening these partnerships is essential to safeguarding health and well-being across the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.”

Minister Roderick Middelhof (Curaçao): “A strong health-care system is built on preparedness, prevention, mental well-being, quality, and a capable workforce. By committing to these principles together, we strengthen our collective resilience.”

State Secretary Judith Tielen (the Netherlands): “Patients who need complex mental health care are among the most vulnerable. We are stepping up for them by strengthening mental health services for everyone in the Kingdom. With our joint efforts we aim to create alignment between our laws and regulations in the field of involuntary mental health care. I am truly grateful for the willingness of each country to help provide these services to patients from islands where such care is not yet available.

De ministers van Volksgezondheid van Aruba, Curaçao en Sint Maarten, samen met de staatssecretaris van het Ministerie van Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport van Nederland, kwamen op donderdag 20 november 2025 op Sint Maarten bijeen voor het Vierlandenoverleg Volksgezondheid. Dit jaarlijkse overleg op hoog niveau blijft een hoeksteen voor gecoördineerd gezondheidsbestuur en gezamenlijke beleidsontwikkeling binnen het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden.

De landen bevestigden tevens hun intentie om toe te werken naar geharmoniseerde volksgezondheidswetgeving in het Caribische deel van het Koninkrijk, met bijzondere aandacht voor onvrijwillige geestelijke gezondheidszorg en grensoverschrijdende verwijzing van cliënten in de geestelijke gezondheidszorg.

De vier landen nemen stappen om de crisisparaadheid te verbeteren, wat essentieel is om ervoor te zorgen dat het Koninkrijk op een gecoördineerde en effectieve manier kan reageren op elke gezondheidscrisis.
