Op donderdag 11 december bracht wethouder Peter Silberie, belast met onder andere de portefeuille onderwijs, een bezoek aan het terrein waar MBO Bonaire gebouwd wordt. Dit project wordt gefinancierd door het eilandbestuur van Bonaire en het Ministerie van Onderwijs.

Tijdens zijn bezoek werd de gedeputeerde vergezeld door de raad van toezicht van FPIB (Fundashon Propiedat Inmobil Bonaire) en projectleider Norbert Balentina. De projectleider gaf tijdens een rondleiding over de bouwplaats een gedetailleerde en uitgebreide uitleg over de gebruikte bouwmethode.

Er wordt gebruik gemaakt van een niet-traditioneel bouwsysteem waarbij de muren van beton worden gestort. De buitenkant van het beton is aan beide zijden voorzien van een schuimlaag die als gietvorm fungeert. Dit bouwsysteem zal de bouwkosten aanzienlijk verlagen en de exploitatiekosten na ingebruikname van het gebouw zullen aanzienlijk lager uitvallen. Naast de lagere kosten voldoet het gebouw volledig aan de bouwvoorschriften, bekend als de BES-code, wat inhoudt dat het gebouw bestand is tegen aardbevingen en orkanen van categorie 3.

Met dit project creëert het Openbaar Lichaam Bonaire moderne voorzieningen en een aangename omgeving om het opleidingsniveau van haar bevolking verder te verhogen.

Alderman Peter Silberie, who among other responsibilities oversees the education portfolio, visited the construction site of the new MBO Bonaire campus. The project is financed by the Island Government of Bonaire and the Ministry of Education.

During the visit, the alderman was accompanied by the Supervisory Board of FPIB (Fundashon Propiedat Inmobil Bonaire) and project manager Norbert Balentina. During a guided tour of the construction site, the project manager provided a detailed explanation of the construction method being used.

A non-traditional construction system is being applied in which the walls are cast in concrete. The exterior of the concrete is fitted on both sides with a foam layer that serves as the casting form. This construction method will significantly reduce construction costs, and the operational costs after the building becomes operational will also be considerably lower.

In addition to cost efficiency, the building fully complies with the applicable construction regulations, known as the BES Code. This means the building is resistant to earthquakes and hurricanes up to Category 3.

Through this project, the Public Entity Bonaire is creating modern facilities and a pleasant learning environment to further enhance the educational level of its population.

Het Openbaar Lichaam Bonaire heeft het initiatief genomen om het Vergunningen-, Toezicht- en Handhavingsstelsel (VTH) verder te versterken en heeft daartoe een samenwerkingsovereenkomst gesloten met Omgevingsdienst Nederland (ODNL).
